The main attraction of the gorgeous, hiker-friendly nature park was a huge, cavernous black hole of waterfalls called the Devil's Throat (Garganta del Diablo). Millions of gallons of water per second rush down a gaping hole from all sides. It is an absolutely incomparable natural wonder.
We hiked all around the park, attracting butterflies by the hundreds (I have never seen so many in one place - I can't imagine a location that more resembles paradise, what with the gorgeous, multi-tonal butterflies dancing all about as you walk through the jungle from lovely waterfall to lovely waterfall!). Spent the entire day wading through thousands of other tourists, searching for new lookout points.
My favorite sight was the two twin falls that dropped alongside one another down a gorgeous cliff, called the Two Sisters (Las Dos Hermanas). Thought of Klara May and snapped a photo on a friend's camera (since mine still refuses to work properly).
Took a boat ride INTO the waterfall and got drenched. Talk about extreme. Corey somehow shot a video pre-soaking . . . kudos.
On our 20-hour bus ride back to Buenos Aires, we were stopped four times at different cop checkpoints and were even forced to exit the bus at one point since many of us didn't have our passports (just copies, for security reasons). Made it home safely after downing several cups of the worst coffee ever en route.
Excellent weekend. Highly recommend Iguazu Falls for the sightseers.
